About Notion

Notion helps you build beautiful tools for your life’s work. In today's world of endless apps and tabs, Notion provides one place for teams to get everything done, seamlessly connecting docs, notes, projects, calendar, and email—with AI built in to find answers and automate work. Millions of users, from individuals to large organizations like Toyota, Figma, and OpenAI, love Notion for its flexibility and choose it because it helps them save time and money.

In-person collaboration is essential to Notion's culture. We require all team members to work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, our designated Anchor Days. Certain teams or positions may require additional in-office workdays.

About The AI Applications Engineer Role

We’re looking for an AI Applications Engineer to help drive Notion’s business transformation efforts. In this role, you’ll be a strategic partner to our internal stakeholders (primarily GTM, Finance and People teams) and prototype, validate and ship creative AI-driven solutions to multi-faceted problems that deliver measurable business impact.

What You'll Achieve

  • Work with your stakeholders to discover opportunities from ambiguous problem statements and translate them into proofs‑of‑concepts.
  • Prototype end‑to‑end AI solutions from problem framing through data readiness, modeling, evaluation, and initial productization.
  • Create reusable components, tooling, and templates to accelerate future projects.

Skills You'll Need To Bring

  • 4-8 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Data Scientist or an equivalent role at a technology company any, familiarity with ML/AI, LLMs in production systems, and a high-level understanding of how business processes and systems work end to end. Domain experience partnering with GTM and Finance a plus.
  • Impact-driven approach to technology: You see technologies as tools to achieve user impact rather than ends in themselves. You care more about building successful systems that solve real problems than about using specific tech stacks or following trends. You stay current with the latest tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI-assisted development environments, you're pragmatic about choosing the right tool for the job, focusing on what delivers the most value to users and the business.
  • Thoughtful Problem-solving: You approach problems holistically, starting with a clear and accurate understanding of the context. You excel at building alignment between technical and non-technical teams, translating complex AI concepts into actionable business outcomes. You think critically about the implications of what you're building and how it will impact real people's lives. You can navigate ambiguity successfully, decompose complex problems into clean solutions, while also balancing the business impact of what you’re building.
  • Empathetic communication and collaboration: You communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether you're explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real time. You enjoy collaborating with both fellow engineers, data scientists, cross-functional partners and non-technical stakeholders. You are a lifelong learner and invest in both your own growth and the growth, learning, and development of your teammates.
  • You don’t need to be an AI expert, but you’re curious and willing to adopt AI tools to work smarter and deliver better results.
