Overview
The Assistant Director of Career Enhancement and Employer Relations works directly with the Assistant Athletic Director for Career Enhancement and Employer Relations to prepare student-athletes for their professional life after sport and to strengthen the Northwestern Athletics network. This role provides individual counseling, coaching, and mentoring to support student-athletes’ career development and job search, while organizing and executing career-based events and workshops.
Student-Athlete Career Coaching
Provide specialized professional development assistance including resume critiquing, mock interviews, networking strategies, assessing career goals, and developing both short and long term career plans.
Career Programming & Event Management
Conceptualize, implement, and execute student-athlete focused programs such as Kabiller NU for Life events, the Wildcat Professional Excellence Program (WPEP), and other career development workshops. Oversee industry-specific programming and the student-athlete advisory board.
Kabiller NU For Life Mentoring Program
Manage and expand the mentoring program by liaising with athletic department stakeholders, mentors, and mentees, and supporting team-specific mentoring initiatives.
Marketing and Communications
Manage the Kabiller NU for Life website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) by creating content, engaging with readers, and maintaining consistent branding with support from the video and athletic communications teams. Also coordinate employer and alumni engagement activities.
Additional Responsibilities
Adhere to all relevant departmental, University and regulatory guidelines including NCAA, CSC, Big Ten Conference standards. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred) with three years’ experience in intercollegiate athletics, higher education, recruiting or human resources. Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills with experience in event management and career advising. Former student-athlete experience is preferred.
Salary & Benefits
Target hiring range is between $56,782 to $58,000 per year. Northwestern University offers competitive health care, retirement benefits, tuition discounts, work-life balance programs, and professional development resources.
