Position Overview

This full time, 40-hour per week position is located at Lake Forest Hospital. As a licensed Stationary Engineer II, you will operate and maintain building mechanical systems and equipment including high pressure boilers, chillers, and medical air compressors. Your role is essential to ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations with minimal unscheduled shutdowns, while providing a comfortable and safe environment for occupants.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain power plant equipment with minor supervision.
  • Monitor engineering systems and take emergency actions as needed.
  • Perform safety checks, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Conduct chemical analysis of systems and maintain chemical balance.
  • Respond to plant emergencies and service requests promptly.
  • Assist contractors and vendors with repairs, maintenance, and construction tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2-3 years of building maintenance experience.
  • Technical training in maintenance or HVAC/R trade certification.
  • Licensed as a Stationary Engineer or ability to obtain license within 1 year.
  • Valid driver’s license with Driving Abstract.

Physical and Additional Requirements

Physical demands include lifting/carrying up to 70 pounds and push/pull force up to 50 pounds. Hospital or military experience, boiler maintenance training, and current universal refrigerant certification are advantageous.
