Role Overview

The Senior Medical Assistant at Northwell Career Site leads and guides Medical Assistants in daily clinical tasks and para-professional nursing care. The role involves preparing patients for physicians, administering and recording laboratory tests, and coordinating patient clinic charts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide Medical Assistants in their duties.
  • Provide staff performance input and participate in training.
  • Prioritize and assign work based on workflow fluctuations.
  • Act as a resource for difficult or complex issues.
  • Support management in developing new task procedures.
  • Serve as the point of contact for vendors.
  • Perform all functions of a medical assistant including specimen collection and EKG procedures.
  • Maintain supplies, perform audits, and coordinate with the healthcare team.
  • Record patient data accurately on charts and forms.
  • Perform additional clerical duties such as managing medical records and processing insurance forms.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and have completed a Medical Assisting program at an accredited school, or have 1-3 years of relevant experience in Medical Assisting, EMT or CNA (with current certifications as applicable). A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.
