About the Role: Strategy Analyst
We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Strategy Analyst to join our client's team. This is a crucial independent contractor engagement focused on evaluating the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and fulfillment technology landscape. You will provide strategic insights into competitive positioning, defensibility, and the transformative impact of AI on enterprise operations.
This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in enterprise software market analysis and the ability to dissect complex competitive dynamics within B2B ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured analysis of the EDI and fulfillment solutions market, including both incumbents and emerging entrants.
- Compare product capabilities, vertical focus, integration ecosystems, and value propositions.
- Assess competitive moats, including network effects, switching costs, regulatory/compliance factors, embedded integrations with ERP/WMS/TMS systems, and long-term enterprise contracts.
- Evaluate the defensibility of legacy EDI providers in the context of AI-enabled disruption.
- Analyze positioning advantages of established vendors versus AI-native startups.
- Develop forward-looking market scenarios, including strategic responses for incumbents and likely competitive leaders under increased AI adoption.
- Produce structured written reports and executive-ready strategic insights.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Enterprise SaaS market analysis, Supply chain or logistics technology, EDI platforms or B2B integration software, Technology-focused strategy consulting, Private equity, venture capital, or corporate strategy analysis in enterprise software.
- Strong understanding of EDI standards (e.g., X12, EDIFACT), ERP systems and integrations (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), and fulfillment and supply chain workflows.
- Experience evaluating competitive positioning and defensibility in enterprise software markets.
- Ability to assess AI disruption potential across technical and business dimensions.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to present structured, data-driven insights.
- Independent analytical thinker comfortable working in evolving market contexts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in supply chain technology, logistics SaaS, or B2B integration platforms.
- Exposure to AI-enabled enterprise software products.
- Background in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or investment analysis.
- Familiarity with workflow automation and AI transformation in enterprise systems.
Engagement Details
- Independent contractor engagement.
- Fully remote with flexible scheduling.
- Project-based work with potential extension based on project needs.
- Hourly compensation: $80–$130 depending on experience and scope.
- Weekly payment via secure payment platforms.
