Overview of the Senior Network Deployment and Operations Engineer Role

North Star Staffing is seeking a Senior Network Deployment and Operations Engineer with over 10 years of experience in either IP or Optical networking. This pivotal role involves providing technical leadership and operational oversight for extensive network infrastructure deployments, ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within scope, and adhere to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess deep networking expertise combined with strong program management capabilities and excellent cross-functional collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Deployment & Operations: Provide technical and operational oversight for IP or Optical network deployments, ensuring infrastructure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality. Develop and manage deployment schedules, scope, and resource allocation.
• Technical Leadership: Facilitate technical discussions across engineering, operations, and data center teams. Identify risks, propose solutions, and drive innovation in deployment processes. Ensure adherence to networking standards, best practices, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Performance & KPI Management: Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including deployment speed, quality, efficiency, and SLA adherence. Analyze performance data to improve processes and decision-making, providing data-driven insights to senior leadership.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with vendors and external partners, ensuring contractual obligations and quality standards are met. Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across network engineering, data center engineering, and operations.
• Reporting & Communication: Maintain structured reporting for senior leadership, communicating program status, identified risks, mitigation strategies, and opportunities for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 10+ years of experience in IP or Optical network deployment.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale network infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical expertise in IP networking protocols, architectures, and technologies.
• Extensive experience with program management, operations, and process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
