About the Role
North Star Staffing is seeking an experienced Project Manager III to support advanced research initiatives in augmented and virtual reality technologies. This role focuses on managing research and feature development programs within an interdisciplinary environment spanning audio signal processing, machine learning, perception science, and emerging immersive systems. You will work alongside researchers, engineers, and technical specialists to drive structured execution across complex, fast-moving innovation projects. This position requires onsite presence five days per week in Redmond, WA.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & ExecutionLead end-to-end planning and delivery of research and feature development projectsDevelop project timelines, milestones, and execution roadmapsCoordinate cross-functional workflows to ensure timely completion
- Risk & Stakeholder ManagementMonitor project progress and proactively identify risksImplement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and quality targetsCommunicate status updates, dependencies, and blockers to stakeholders
- Research & Technical CollaborationPartner with teams in audio signal processing, machine learning, and hearing sciencesFacilitate alignment across scientific and engineering stakeholdersSupport coordination between research and applied development teams
- Operational & Procurement SupportOversee procurement of research equipment and vendor servicesEnsure documentation accuracy and task trackingAssist with operational and non-research initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of project management experience in research, hardware development, or product development environments
- Strong ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced technical environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting research teams or R&D programs
- Familiarity with audio technologies, signal processing, or machine learning environments
- PMP or equivalent project management certification
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field (or equivalent experience)
