Quality Control Technician
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for testing seafood products and materials during manufacturing to verify that they meet predefined criteria and conform to all applicable laws and North Coast Seafoods standards. The technician tests products at three stages: before, in-process, and final, ensuring safety for sale or distribution, and reports findings back to management.
The role includes inspection and grading of Grade-A products, performing moisture analysis, producing written reports, and verifying inventory, quality, and usability of products. This position reports to the Quality Control Supervisor or Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as primary contact between production staff and Quality department.
- Fill out assigned HACCP compliance documents.
- Conduct internal audits alongside the QC supervisor.
- Test and record measurements of seafood product attributes.
- Communicate quality or compliance concerns with urgency.
- Perform analytical and organoleptic inspections on fresh and frozen seafood.
Other requirements include a minimum of 1+ years of experience in inspection/production, microbiology method verification, and food manufacturing (seafood or meat processing is a plus). The role demands excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving abilities, project management acumen, and the physical capacity to lift 30-50 pounds and work in varied environmental conditions.
