About the PMO Expert Role at Norsk Hydro

Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) acts as an internal service provider for the Hydro group, delivering essential IT, financial, and HR business services. The PMO Expert in Hydro GBS plays a pivotal role in supporting various Portfolio Governance and Change Adoption services within the PMO organization, from initial vision to implementation and ownership. This role primarily supports project and product portfolios within Hydro GBS IT, with occasional involvement in Corporate and Strategic programs. You will partner with Area PMOs to enhance their processes through reporting, analytics, and insights, ultimately improving efficiency and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align with GBS IT PMO organizations and within portfolios and programs to assess needs for PMO Governance and Change Adoption services.
  • Maintain deep expertise in all PMO service components, handling change requests, driving improvements, and ensuring service excellence.
  • Lead and facilitate collaboration across Portfolio Governance & Change Adoption teams and Area PMO communities for consistent implementation and evolution of PMO processes.
  • Perform ongoing quality checks on project management practices, overseeing reporting, data accuracy, performance tracking, and resource alignment to prevent conflicts and delays.
  • Support continuous enhancement of the PMO framework—structure, processes, modules, and tools—and maintain comprehensive functional documentation.
  • Act as an ambassador for GBS IT Portfolio Governance & Change Adoption services, communicating updates, managing administrative tool requests, transforming challenges into improvements, and reporting progress.

What Will Make You Successful

Qualifications & Experience
  • College or University degree (IT/Business Degree or Equivalent).
  • Prince2, PMP, ITIL certifications are an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in IS / IT service/program delivery within a corporate or shared services organization.
  • Experience with ServiceNow SPM (or other PPM tool), Jira, Azure DevOps, and MS Project is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in Portfolio management, Project Management, or Program Management.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written); other languages are a plus.

  • Skilled in PMO processes, reporting, and project portfolio tooling.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess project risks, dependencies, and performance metrics.
  • A good team player with the ability to connect easily with others.
