About the role
Part-time Faculty Chemistry & Biochemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Northern Kentucky University is seeking to create a database of potential part-time instructors qualified to teach courses in general chemistry, physiological chemistry, and organic chemistry laboratory. This posting is to build a pool of candidates and is not for a specific open position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach a two or three-contact hour course during scheduled times.
- Create a syllabus with a timeline of classes for students.
- Provide office hours (virtual or face-to-face) for students.
- Manage course content and student progress through Canvas.
- Submit mid-term and final grades via the MyNKU online grading system.
- Develop and manage syllabus materials, including tests, assignments, and online discussions to measure student performance against learning objectives.
- Coordinate courseware and curriculum with the Academic Department Chair.
- Review textbook and courseware changes with the Academic Department Chair and other full-time faculty.
- Facilitate class instruction according to learning objectives and session plan outlines.
- Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and rubrics.
- Post all course grades in MyNKU.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
