Purpose of the IT Operations Intern Role
This exciting 3-month internship, starting in June 2026, is within the Technology team at Nicola Wealth, ideal for post-secondary students specializing in Information Systems or Computer Science. The role offers a chance to apply academic knowledge in a professional, client-focused setting, contributing to the development, refinement, and continuous improvement of existing AI agents. The IT Operations Intern will collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance agent performance and usability, identify optimization opportunities, and contribute to documentation and operational readiness. This position requires strong initiative, independent work, and comfort in evolving technical environments, emphasizing curiosity, problem-solving, and clear communication.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop, refine, and improve existing AI agents by supporting updates that enhance reliability, accuracy, and end-user experience.
- Assist with testing and quality checks for agent changes, documenting outcomes and escalating issues as required.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to capture feedback, understand user needs, and translate them into improvement opportunities.
- Support documentation and knowledge resources (e.g., usage notes, change summaries, FAQs) to improve adoption and operational consistency.
- Conduct research on agent-related topics (e.g., emerging practices, features, or tooling updates) and summarize findings into clear recommendations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited Canadian university/college in Information Systems/Computer Science.
- Recent experience working with Copilot agents, Copilot Studio, and/or AI agents, including hands-on exposure building or enhancing agents.
- Recent experience building agents (e.g., developing, configuring, or improving existing agent capabilities).
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- A self-starter with the ability to take initiative and think critically to seek out information and solutions independently.
- Experience working independently, as well as in partnership with other team members.
- Available full-time for the full summer term.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada for the full term.
Compensation & Benefits Package
Nicola Wealth offers a competitive market salary of $26 per hour, along with additional benefits, reflecting appreciation for employee commitment to business growth, client satisfaction, and company values.
