Job Description

Mental Health Staff Nurse - NHS Scotland

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. Our aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We have a vacancy for registered Mental Health Staff Nurses to join our team in Morar Ward, New Craigs Hospital. Morar ward is a 22-bed adult acute admissions ward with two beds for Alcohol detox, providing care for patients in Highland.

We are looking for motivated, solution-focused, hardworking, dynamic individuals to join our multidisciplinary team. Quality improvement is key to enhancing patient experience, and as a Mental Health Staff Nurse, you will have the opportunity to participate in this crucial process.

The Role

Morar ward boasts a supportive and motivated team. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to develop a broad range of skills in a nurturing environment.

Your yearly appraisal and bi-monthly management supervision, alongside various training opportunities, will form the backbone of your professional development. All newly qualified staff will complete NHS Scotland's Flying Start module. This post is open to newly qualified mental health nurses.

Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective interaction with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies involved in care delivery.

You will undertake responsibility for coordinating shifts, assessing patients, and developing comprehensive plans of care.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the multidisciplinary team to identify risk behaviours, implement appropriate interventions, and address barriers to patient discharge from the hospital.
