About the Visual Designer IV Role at Nexus Consulting
Nexus Consulting is seeking an experienced Visual Designer IV to join a Visual Systems team that supports large-scale digital product experiences. This pivotal role focuses heavily on icon system design, asset production, and ensuring visual consistency across various product surfaces.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in communication design, exceptional attention to detail, and a proven track record in building and scaling icon systems for global digital products. You will engage in close collaboration with cross-functional partners to evolve and maintain a cohesive visual language, strengthening brand expression across both web and mobile platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Icon System Development & Execution: Design and produce high-quality iconography aligned with established visual systems, creating scalable icon libraries across multiple sizes, weights, and themes. Develop pixel-perfect, grid-aligned icons with strong optical balance, ensuring clarity and usability at small sizes and across device contexts.
- Visual Systems & Documentation: Extend and refine icon standards and system guidelines, documenting usage rules, specifications, and best practices. Maintain naming conventions, export workflows, and asset versioning processes, contributing to system consistency across product surfaces.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with art directors, product designers, producers, and engineers. Translate product requirements into intuitive and emotionally engaging visual assets, actively participating in critiques and incorporating feedback constructively. Ensure brand alignment and seamless user experience across all deliverables.
- Creative Development: Explore universally recognized visual metaphors to clarify complex concepts, presenting clear creative rationale behind design decisions. Maintain high craftsmanship standards and strong visual hierarchy.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional experience in visual design, graphic design, or production design.
- Proven experience designing and implementing icon systems at scale.
- Experience working across web, desktop, iOS, and Android platforms.
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma (libraries, components, variables/styles, asset export workflows).
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Strong understanding of vector construction, grid systems, optical alignment, and accessibility standards.
- Experience managing large-scale icon libraries and production workflows.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system.
- Understanding of design-to-development handoff and QA processes.
- Familiarity with motion design, animation, or 3D tools.
