Software Expert – Operating Systems

Role Overview

Our client, in collaboration with leading AI research labs, is seeking experienced Software Expert – Operating Systems professionals. This remote contract role is crucial for a high-priority data collection initiative aimed at enhancing how AI systems comprehend complex operating system interfaces and multi-step professional workflows. You will directly contribute to developing high-fidelity datasets essential for training next-generation AI models by capturing realistic, expert-level software interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Record screen sessions demonstrating operating system workflows with clear verbal narration explaining each step.
• Accurately annotate screenshots by drawing bounding boxes around relevant UI elements.
• Follow provided staging instructions to configure specific UI states before recording.
• Utilize custom capture tools to ensure consistent and accurate workflow recording.
• Adhere strictly to task guidelines to maintain data quality and downstream usability.
• Deliver high-quality outputs suitable for large-scale AI research and model training.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with one or more operating systems, including Windows, macOS, or Linux.
• Ability to follow precise instructions and consistently meet quality standards.
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail and capability for independent work.
• Fluent English communication skills are essential.
• Must have access to a physical Mac and be able to create a fresh macOS user profile if required.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in data collection, annotation, or quality assurance.
• Experience documenting or recording technical workflows.
• Comfort working with new tools and staged environments.

Engagement Details

This is a fully remote, asynchronous independent contractor role offering a flexible working schedule. Project duration may vary and is extendable based on performance and project needs. The work primarily involves screen recording, UI annotation, and workflow documentation. Compensation is hourly, aligned with task scope and expertise, with weekly payments via Stripe or Wise.

Eligibility

Applicants must be legally authorized to work as independent contractors in their country of residence. Please note that H1-B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported for this role.
