About the Software Engineering Expert Role at Nexus Consulting
Nexus Consulting is seeking Software Engineering Experts for a series of paid research interviews. This is a short-term, flexible opportunity designed for highly skilled technical and analytical professionals. The project supports advanced market and technology research initiatives, focusing on understanding how technical professionals make financial, career, and technology-related decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in scheduled 30–60 minute confidential research interviews.
- Share valuable insights on your professional background, decision-making processes, and technology usage.
- Discuss financial behavior, investment tools, and workflow preferences in detail.
- Provide honest and comprehensive feedback to support market and technology research and analysis.
- Adhere strictly to all confidentiality and participation guidelines throughout the engagement.
Eligibility & Qualifications
To qualify for this Software Engineering Expert role, candidates should possess a strong background in a technical or analytical field, including but not limited to:
- Software engineering, data science, or product and design roles.
- Engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, or aerospace engineering.
- Finance or quantitative roles, including investment banking, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, trading, or FP&A.
- Scientific or research-based professions.
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical or STEM-related field is preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex professional insights are essential. Applicants must currently reside in one of the following U.S. metropolitan areas:
- Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas–Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, or Washington, DC.
Preferred qualifications include active investment or brokerage accounts with platforms like Vanguard, Fidelity, Charles Schwab, Robinhood, E*Trade, Interactive Brokers, SoFi, Betterment, TD Ameritrade, or Wealthfront.
Work Details

- Opportunity for one-time or repeat sessions based on project needs.
- Each research session typically lasts approximately 30–60 minutes.
Contract & Payment Terms
This is an independent contractor engagement with weekly payments via Stripe or Wise. There is no requirement for sales, marketing, or follow-up communication after participation. Furthermore, no access to confidential or proprietary employer data is required for this role.
