QGIS Expert (Remote)

Nexus Consulting is seeking a highly skilled QGIS Expert to lead full-cycle GIS projects. This is an hourly contract role for an independent contractor, offering remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end QGIS projects from raw spatial data to final map deliverables.
• Acquire, clean, validate, and organize diverse geospatial datasets.
• Perform spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and data transformations.
• Manage projections, coordinate systems, and spatial references to ensure interoperability.
• Style and symbolize layers for clarity, interpretability, and professional presentation.
• Build advanced layouts and cartographic products while explaining design decisions.
• Document workflow processes and analytical reasoning in structured written updates.
• Troubleshoot GIS challenges and articulate problem-solving strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience managing full GIS projects using QGIS.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality spatial analyses and professional cartographic outputs.
• Deep understanding of spatial data formats, coordinate systems, and GIS principles.
• Strong data cleaning, organization, and transformation skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex GIS workflows.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience documenting GIS workflows for training, research, or AI initiatives.
• Background collaborating in multidisciplinary GIS or spatial data teams.
• Familiarity integrating QGIS with other geospatial tools or scripting environments.
