About the Role: Mechanical Designer at Nexus Consulting

Nexus Consulting is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Technician to join our team as a remote Mechanical Designer. In this role, you will apply your subject matter expertise to advanced AI model training initiatives, combining hands-on mechanical experience with strong analytical and communication skills. Your contributions will directly improve AI systems supporting mechanical design, testing, manufacturing, and troubleshooting, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of next-generation engineering tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply core mechanical engineering principles to train and evaluate AI models focused on design, manufacturing, and R&D applications.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to validate and refine AI-generated outputs.
• Develop structured datasets and real-world test scenarios based on mechanical assembly, disassembly, diagnostics, and troubleshooting workflows.
• Review AI model responses for technical accuracy, feasibility, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Translate complex mechanical systems and fabrication processes into clear documentation for AI training purposes.
• Identify gaps in AI understanding and recommend targeted improvements.
• Collaborate remotely with engineers, developers, and AI specialists to continuously enhance training materials.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist, Technician, Mechanical Designer, or similar role.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical specifications.
• Hands-on experience assembling, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision in documentation.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience contributing to AI model training, machine learning initiatives, or technical data annotation.
• Background in automotive, manufacturing, industrial systems, or R&D environments.
• Familiarity with digital collaboration tools and remote engineering workflows.
