About the Audio Engineer Role at Nexus Consulting
Nexus Consulting is seeking an experienced Audio Engineer to support next-generation AI-driven audio technologies for one of their clients. This remote contract opportunity is ideal for professionals who are detail-oriented, self-directed, and possess strong experience in audio analysis and restoration. The core focus will involve identifying and classifying audio artifacts, producing high-quality annotations, and actively contributing to the continuous improvement of machine learning systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Review short audio clips and precisely classify artifacts such as noise, clipping, echo, misalignment, and compression-related issues.
- Produce accurate annotations and structured corrective feedback for audio data.
- Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of annotation work to ensure consistency and accuracy across projects.
- Document edge cases and contribute to the development of shared annotation guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with training and QA teams to refine annotation standards and processes.
- Provide constructive feedback on annotation tools and suggest workflow improvements.
- Maintain high data quality and meticulous documentation standards throughout all tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in audio annotation, captioning, transcription, audio editing, or quality assurance.
- Strong proficiency with industry-standard audio restoration tools such as iZotope RX, Cedar Studio, Adobe Audition, or equivalent software.
- Solid understanding of audio engineering terminology and common production defects.
- Experience utilizing browser-based tools and structured workflows in a professional setting.
- Strong written communication skills essential for clear documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage tasks in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced descriptive audio captioning projects.
- Professional background in audio engineering or post-production.
- Experience contributing to annotation or QA documentation standards.
Additional Information
This is a contract engagement with flexible hours within an agreed weekly range. Compensation will be discussed based on your experience and location.
