Nexus Consulting is seeking an experienced Audio Engineer Specialist for one of our clients. This remote contract opportunity focuses on supporting next-generation AI-driven audio technologies. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in identifying and classifying various audio artifacts, producing high-quality annotations, and actively contributing to the continuous improvement of machine learning systems. This role is perfect for detail-oriented, self-directed professionals with a strong background in audio analysis and restoration.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and classify audio artifacts like noise, clipping, echo, and compression issues.
• Produce precise annotations and structured corrective feedback for audio clips.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure annotation consistency and accuracy.
• Document edge cases and contribute to shared audio annotation guidelines.
• Collaborate with training and QA teams to refine annotation standards.
• Provide valuable feedback on annotation tools and workflow improvements.
• Maintain high data quality and meticulous documentation standards.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in audio annotation, captioning, transcription, or editing.
• Strong proficiency with audio restoration tools (e.g., iZotope RX, Cedar Studio, Adobe Audition).
• Solid understanding of audio engineering terminology and production defects.
• Experience using browser-based tools and structured workflows.
• Excellent written communication skills for detailed documentation and reporting.
• Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with advanced descriptive audio captioning projects.
• Professional background in audio engineering or post-production.
• Track record of contributing to annotation or QA documentation standards.

Additional Information

This is a contract engagement with flexible hours within an agreed weekly range. Compensation will be discussed based on experience and location.
