About the Ardour Expert Role at Nexus Consulting
Nexus Consulting is seeking an Ardour Expert to work on behalf of one of our clients, who are developing advanced AI-driven audio production systems. This remote, hourly contract role is ideal for seasoned audio professionals capable of demonstrating authentic, end-to-end Ardour workflows, while clearly articulating the technical and creative decisions involved. Your deep expertise will be crucial in training AI systems to understand and replicate real-world audio engineering practices.
As an Ardour Expert, you will take the lead on full-cycle audio production projects, from initial session setup and live multitrack recording to the final mix and master export. Your workflow, technical reasoning, and artistic decisions will directly inform sophisticated AI systems, helping them learn professional audio engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complete audio production projects within Ardour, from initial recording through final master export.
- Demonstrate live multitrack recording workflows for various scenarios such as bands, orchestras, live events, concerts, and services.
- Showcase advanced session management skills, including routing, microphone setup strategy, gain staging, latency troubleshooting, and adaptive live session adjustments.
- Perform editing and comping of takes, configure buses, apply plugin chains, automate mixes, and effectively resolve session-specific technical challenges.
- Clearly explain both technical and artistic decision-making in structured written and verbal formats.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate documentation of workflows and reasoning.
- Provide structured feedback to improve AI-driven audio learning systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive professional experience utilizing Ardour for end-to-end audio production.
- Proven expertise in multitrack live recording environments.
- Strong background in mixing, mastering, sound design, and sound editing.
- Deep understanding of routing, plugin configuration, effects processing, automation, and mastering exports.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues under real-world production pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing software or tools related to audio production.
- Background in music production, post-production, podcasting, film scoring, or live sound engineering.
