This is a non-travel, permanent position based in North Dakota Wind near Edgeley, ND.
Role of a Wind Technician
As a Wind Technician at NextEra Energy, you will be a vital frontline contributor, ensuring the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm operations. Your primary focus will involve the secure execution of field-based equipment maintenance and diagnostics, along with ensuring long-term reliability and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Operation Safety Policy Instructions and conduct fieldwork in adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations, promoting strong employee safety practices and fostering an unparalleled safety culture.
- Participate actively in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects to drive efficiency.
- Recruit and develop other technicians, contributing to the ongoing growth and skill enhancement of the team.
- Support the site manager across all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and maintaining high turbine availability.
- Collaborate closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation-focused feedback and solutions for both planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development initiatives, and financial performance.
- Represent NextEra Energy professionally within the community and with customers.

Job Overview
Employees in this role are responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and their associated equipment. This position requires an understanding of mechanics, including both electrical and hydraulic aspects of all wind turbine components. The successful candidate will replace mechanical and electrical components, interpret schematics, and utilize appropriate diagnostic tools. Additional duties include interpreting fault reports, maintaining power generation reports and service logs in the computer database, and monitoring turbine performance and SCADA systems.
Specific Job Duties
- Perform regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment.
- Complete electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Maintain all company-supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling.
- Apply a fundamental understanding of technical and process functions.
- Manage individual training schedules and meet all training requirements within specified timeframes.
- Meet attendance requirements consistently.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate / GED
- 0+ years of experience in a relevant field
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
- Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
- Successful completion of a Post-Offer Functional Capacity Evaluation
