This is a non-travel, permanent position based in Linton, ND, offering a stable environment for dedicated professionals.

Key Responsibilities of a Wind Technician

As a Wind Technician at NextEra Energy, you will be a crucial frontline professional ensuring the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm operations. Your primary focus will involve the secure execution of field-based equipment maintenance and diagnostics, contributing to long-term reliability and profitability. Additional responsibilities include:

• Implementing Operation Safety Policy Instructions and conducting fieldwork in full compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations, actively promoting excellent employee safety practices, and fostering an unparalleled employee safety culture.
• Actively participating in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects to drive continuous improvement.
• Recruiting and developing other technicians, contributing to the ongoing growth and skill enhancement of the team.
• Supporting the site manager across all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and ensuring high turbine availability.
• Collaborating closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation-focused feedback and solutions for both planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development initiatives, and financial performance optimization.
• Presenting a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy within the community and with customers, upholding the company's reputation.

Job Overview

Employees in this role are responsible for performing essential maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and their associated equipment. Successful candidates will possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems, including both electrical components and hydraulic maintenance specific to all wind turbine components. This position requires the ability to replace mechanical and electrical components, interpret complex schematics, and utilize appropriate diagnostic tools. Furthermore, the Wind Technician will interpret fault reports, meticulously maintain power generation reports and service logs within the computer database, and continuously monitor turbine performance and SCADA systems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, the Wind Technician will:

• Perform regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
• Complete comprehensive electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain all company-supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling to a high standard of readiness and functionality.
• Apply a foundational understanding of technical and process functions within the wind farm environment.
• Manage personal training schedules and meet all required training within designated timeframes to ensure compliance and skill development.
• Consistently meet attendance requirements, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned, contributing flexibly to team objectives.

Required Qualifications

• High School Grad / GED
• Experience: 0+ years
• Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
• Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
• Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree
