Claims Specialist

Overview

ERGO NEXT’s mission is to help entrepreneurs thrive by providing full-stack, technology-led small business insurance. As a Claims Specialist at Next Insurance, you will be the subject matter expert in handling high-severity, high-complexity commercial claims. You will leverage your extensive litigation handling experience and deep understanding of insurance contracts and legal mandates.

Responsibilities

• Interpret policy documents and legal contracts
• Analyze coverage issues using knowledge of insurance and civil codes
• Manage and resolve complex claims within prescribed authority
• Participate in litigations, mediations, trials, and alternative dispute resolutions
• Communicate with policyholders, witnesses, and claimants, and coordinate with internal teams
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Identify suspicious claims and opportunities for third-party subrogation
• Collaborate with independent field adjusters and other professionals like doctors and attorneys

Qualifications

• BS/BA Degree (Advanced studies or insurance designation preferred)
• 15+ years of experience with Commercial General Liability and Litigation
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills
• Deep knowledge of multi-jurisdictional claims handling issues
• Texas Independent Adjuster License (or ability to obtain it promptly)
• Comfort with evolving technologies and occasional travel (up to 10%)
