Overview
NewsNation, a national news cable network, is seeking a Weekend Audio Operator for our newscasts, based in our New York studios. The role involves managing mics, IFBs, and cables in a live broadcast environment.
Responsibilities
The candidate must:
- Manage mics, IFBs and cables during live broadcasts
- Troubleshoot frequency and connection problems
- Communicate effectively with the A1 mixing the show
- Conduct themselves professionally with talent
- Solve problems quickly during live news broadcasts
- Document and communicate issues concisely
- Focus on Weekend Morning shifts, with potential for additional shifts
- Perform additional duties as assigned by network leadership
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and multitask
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- A self-sufficient, press-on-regardless attitude
- Knowledge of mixing/comms is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field (preferred)
- Membership in IBEW
Compensation & Benefits
Pay range is $47 - $52 per hour, based on experience. Part time employees may be eligible for 401(k) and local/state leave plans, while full time employees also have access to comprehensive benefits.
