Job Summary

The Sales Technician - Garden & Lawn is responsible for ordering, maintaining, and selling live goods and other garden items while providing expert technical guidance to patrons and staff in a garden center environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance in selection, planting, and follow-up care for live goods.
  • Diagnose and recommend solutions for insect and plant problems using appropriate chemicals and organic methods.
  • Conduct seminars, clinics, and training sessions for customers and staff on lawn care, landscaping, pond building, and more.
  • Manage inventory: ensure stock levels match seasonal sales velocity and schedule timely deliveries.
  • Design landscapes for customers and maintain proper merchandising and signage throughout the store.
  • Train staff and ensure all associates are well-versed in product care and safety protocols.

Qualifications: Must be a Virginia Certified Nurseryman or Master Gardener and forklift certified. At least 18 months of specialized retail sales experience in the lawn and garden industry is required, and general retail experience is also valued.
