Medical Assistant Technician - Medical Surgical

About the Role

Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical functions, in accordance with established policies and procedures, to assist the practitioners and management in daily office operations.

In This Role, You Will

  • Assure the patient is properly prepared for the visit to maintain timely patient flow.
  • Observe the patient’s condition, report abnormal conditions to the staff nurse, and record appropriate documentation in the patient’s records.
  • Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings.
  • Draw blood from patients and/or perform finger sticks and obtain other specimens as physician or registered nurse requested.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
  • Maintain stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc.
  • Performs clerical and secretarial work as needed. Interacts with patients and colleagues in accordance with institutional service excellence standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Work Schedule and Location

This is a full-time position, Monday–Friday with varied hours between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Based at our Bayside location, you may also travel to support other locations, ensuring continuity of care across our network.

Qualifications

Preferred Criteria
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT.
  • One or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Required Criteria
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required within 30 days of employment.
