The Role
Newsela is seeking a Senior Learning Experience Designer to build high-quality curricula at scale. This role demands extensive knowledge of state framework-aligned curriculum creation, experience from a core curriculum provider, and an ability to provide expert input on assessments, lesson plans, training, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and review K-12 ELA curricula and assessments.
- Collaborate with internal and external curriculum teams.
- Create guidelines for vendor-developed content.
- Provide expert feedback on instructional strategies and lesson plans.
- Manage projects and scale review processes effectively.
- Hire, train, and work with external contributors.
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Expertise in ELA curriculum for middle and high school.
- Experience with state frameworks, especially in California.
- Knowledge of scaffolds for multilingual learners.
- Familiarity with best practices for accessibility.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years experience in curriculum development or instructional design.
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Education, English, or related field.
- Experience with curriculum development software and content management systems.
Compensation: Base salary between $70,000 and $80,000 per year, plus incentive stock options and benefits.
