Lead Analytics Engineer Contractor - Data Team
Newsela is seeking a Contractor for a Lead Analytics Engineer role within our Data Team. This position is based out of Mexico or Argentina. Reporting to the Hiring Manager, you will be instrumental in applying data engineering best practices to analytics code, transforming, testing, and documenting data to provide clean and organized datasets to end users. You will also offer expert code reviews and mentorship to other engineers in the data space. Your responsibilities will include building and maintaining composable data models, optimizing SQL query performance, and transforming raw data into business insights by working closely with stakeholders. You will develop analyses to answer critical business questions, create data visualizations, and assist stakeholders in exploring and understanding available data visualization tools.

- 8+ Years of experience working with data in a software environment.
- Mastered proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Advanced experience managing business semantic layer tooling, data catalog tooling, and data integrity testing frameworks.
- Experience with dbt orchestration and best practices.
- Proven track record of working autonomously and proactively, with deep domain knowledge of data systems.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Terraform) and document, graph, or schema-less datastores.
Note: Given the nature of the contract, this role will not be eligible for company-sponsored benefits.
