About the Senior AWS DevOps Engineer Role

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Resource Management: Provision, monitor, and scale EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, CloudFront, etc. Maintain uptime using CloudWatch alarms, Auto Scaling Groups, and Health Checks. Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.

Security Operations: Manage IAM roles, policies, and SCPs along with implementing MFA, least privilege, secrets management, and monitoring using AWS WAF, Shield, GuardDuty, and Macie. Coordinate penetration testing and patching.

Networking & DNS: Configure VPC subnets, peering, routing, NAT gateways, and internet gateways. Monitor latency and optimize routing via Route 53 and maintain load balancers (ALB/NLB).

User Identity & Permissions Management: Maintain AWS IAM Identity Center and set up cross-account role assumptions.

Backup & Disaster Recovery: Configure automated backups for RDS, DynamoDB, and S3, ensure disaster recovery plans that cover RPO and RTO metrics.

Compliance & Logging: Maintain audit logs through CloudTrail, AWS Config, and centralized logging. Work with engineering for PII tagging, encryption, and retention policies.

Documentation: Maintain architecture diagrams, infrastructure documentation, and runbooks for incident response and scaling.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform/CloudFormation).
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices and AWS security tools.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals in AWS environments.
  • Experience in designing and testing disaster recovery strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
