Job Description

Accelerate your development in the Public Sector

You have taken your first steps in the public sector. You know how it works, participate in an organization, and take responsibility. But perhaps you also notice: your growth is not as fast as you would like. You lack depth, sparring, or targeted guidance.

Newpublic's program is for professionals like you. A trajectory that acts as a catalyst for your development so that you not only participate, but truly learn to make a difference.

You will develop your change capacity, strengthen your personal leadership, and work on concrete assignments within local government. From major societal themes such as climate and basic security to organizational issues that have a direct impact.

What you will do

The Public Sector Talent Program at Newpublic consists of four components: the personal development program, the Change & Progress program, the guidance program by your talent manager, and your assignment with local government.

With these four elements, we prioritize your personal and professional development. In addition to a challenging assignment, you will spend 10 days over 1.5 years working on your values, drivers, pitfalls, and learning points in our personal development program. This is supplemented with 10 days from the Change & Progress training program, where change capacity is the central theme. You will follow the development days with your fellow professionals, and of course, our talent managers are ready to guide you in the learning process. This way, you will rapidly develop into the professional you want to be!

  • The Personal Development Program: Personal leadership, combined with courage, is the most important factor for change capacity. That is precisely why it forms the core of our program. Knowing who you are, standing up for it, and daring to express yourself impactfully. And then getting things done in practice.
  • Change & Progress: Within our Change & Progress training program, change management and the municipal context are central. Drive change with your young mind and fresh perspective. Have the courage and openness to explore new avenues and propose unorthodox ideas. Use your skills and personality to initiate changes that contribute to the objectives from day one.
  • The Guidance Program: Our talent manager handles the majority of the guidance. With extensive knowledge of the challenges faced by new professionals and local government, they add essential value. You can count on monthly coaching sessions and a listening ear for personal development questions. Find help in connecting theory to practice and be challenged to regularly reflect on yourself.
  • The Assignment: At Newpublic, you will undertake one or two different assignments. From day one, you will work on a concrete change assignment chosen by the client. For example, you can be deployed as a policymaker or project leader, organizational advisor, or process facilitator. The themes can include sustainability, spatial planning, refugee reception, data-driven work, Open Government Act, and more!

Is this for you?

Do you dare to do things differently and ask the 'why' question? We call that pioneering. The world is constantly changing, and that demands eager-to-learn, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented public professionals. Do you enjoy advocating for a modern government? Are you a pioneer of tomorrow who initiates change with a hands-on mentality? Then start the Public Sector Talent Program with a municipality or other local government institution and bring movement to the government!

Do you have?

  • An MBO, HBO, or WO degree, for example in public administration, business economics, economics, political science, law, sociology, social geography, urban planning, HR, communication, social work, or another relevant education or study;
  • 1 to 5 years of work experience in the (semi) public sector;
  • A large dose of courage, perseverance, and curiosity?

Are you?

  • A pioneer who can and wants to initiate change;
  • Proactive, assertive, and entrepreneurial;
  • Communicatively skilled, both written and oral;
  • Always willing to gain new knowledge and experience?

What we offer

  • A challenging position in a government organization in your region;
  • Full reimbursement of your travel expenses;
  • Market-conform salary based on 38 hours per week;
  • Cool pioneer days and fun social gatherings;
  • 25 vacation days and 8% holiday pay;
