Are you passionate about the outdoors and environmental/public health? Join the New York State Department of Health’s Center for Environmental Health (CEH) as a Student Assistant this summer!
Student Assistants play a crucial role in supporting CEH’s mission by performing various administrative and environmental health functions. You will provide critical administrative support to CEH district office environmental health staff. Depending on the role, you may also conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with New York State Sanitary Code and environmental health regulations.
This position offers valuable on-the-job training, allowing you to gain real-world experience in public health. Flexible opportunities are available from May to September, with the possibility of extending into Fall 2026.

The ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate student interested in public/environmental health. You should possess:

Additional Information
This is a temporary, seasonal, non-competitive appointment. Salary is determined by academic level. Work hours and schedules are flexible and depend on the assignment. Maintaining matriculated student status is required to retain employment.
Candidates currently employed by other New York State agencies or State University of New York campuses may need dual employment clearance.
Travel throughout New York State may be required, including overnight stays in areas without public transportation.
