Your Opportunity
The Lead Data Engineer role drives deep business understanding and leverages data to identify critical business checks, anomalies, and define key business rules. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution by working closely with ML and Data teams to translate insights into robust data solutions, enabling both internal teams and New Relic customers to gain trusted, actionable insights.
What You'll Do
- Understand business processes and identify key metrics for data-driven improvement.
- Identify anomalies and conduct root cause analysis with corrective actions.
- Define and document actionable business rules ensuring data quality.
- Collaborate with ML and Data Engineering teams to design technical specifications for data pipelines and models.
- Lead scoping of data-driven projects with clear use cases and success criteria.
- Implement robust data validation and quality checks across systems.
- Create dashboards and reports to monitor KPIs and support business stakeholders.
- Contribute to strategy for internal and customer-facing data products.
- Lead incident response for data quality issues with effective preventative measures.
This Role Requires
- 7+ years of experience in data analysis with emphasis on business analysis.
- Deep understanding of business processes and ability to translate them into data requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with anomaly detection in large datasets.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with varied stakeholders.
- Familiarity with data governance principles and best practices.
Bonus Points
- Experience with ML/AI team collaborations for model development and deployment.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Exposure to statistical analysis and data modeling techniques.
