Position Overview
Position: Post Quality Control Auditor
Location: Remote OK - Hybrid schedule required if living within 31 miles of Santa Ana, CA or Austin, TX.
Salary: Up to $40/hr D.O.E.
Position Summary
The Post Quality Control Auditor is responsible for in-depth file reviews of assigned post-closing quality control audits. This role requires extensive experience in detecting and preventing loan fraud, with strong knowledge of conventional and government loan underwriting guidelines. Working in a paperless environment and LOS, the Auditor will perform loan-level risk analysis and collaborate with other operational departments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality control audits of closed loans, focusing on delinquent loans, oversight audits of post-QC vendor work, and other closed loan file audits to maintain daily productivity levels.
- Perform in-depth reviews and analysis of assigned mortgage loans.
- Conduct risk analysis, identify loan-level defects, and escalate findings to management.
- Document audit results with risk ratings, standardized defect categories, and determine if findings relate to underwriting, compliance, or quality control.
- Detect and prevent fraud, recognizing potential red flags.
- Review reverifications as required by investors, agencies, and the NAF QC Plan, identifying any discrepancies.
- Ensure all loans are underwritten in accordance with Investor and agency guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, VA, USDA, Jumbo).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of underwriting guidelines, AUS (DU, LP and Manual) requirements, NAF overlays, and NAF policies and procedures.
- Perform data integrity reviews.
- Engage in continuous education through webinars and other training.
- Assist management with Post QC vendor findings and resolutions.
Qualifications
- Strong ability to detect possible misrepresentation and/or fraud.
- Previous underwriting experience and/or Quality Control review/audit experience of mortgage loans.
- Working knowledge of investor guidelines such as FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, and Reverse.
- Ability to analyze risk related to investment quality loans, with critical thinking and concise write-ups.
- Extensive knowledge of DU, LP, and manually underwritten loans.
- Ability to review audit documentation, perform analysis, validate and document potential risk, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely rate and categorize risk.
Desired Education/Experience
- 5 or more years of underwriting, credit, and/or QC experience.
- DE and/or VA underwriting designations preferred but not required.
