About The Role

The Senior Software Engineer at Guidehouse Careers plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level applications with an emphasis on AI-driven workflows and automation. This position is integral to our IT team, working closely with Portfolio Leadership to ensure ongoing development ownership and seamless solution delivery. The role involves applying an AI-first engineering mindset to create scalable, supportable, and innovative solutions that align with enterprise standards and future growth objectives. The Senior Software Engineer will utilize forward deployed engineering (FDE) practices, focusing on building solutions that support long-term operational support and expansion. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaborative engagement to translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, along with a minimum of 7+ years of experience in software engineering or application development. Demonstrated success in delivering enterprise-scale, production-ready solutions is essential. Candidates should have strong expertise in full-stack development, including back-end services such as Python and modern JavaScript frameworks like React.js or Next.js with TypeScript. Experience designing and consuming APIs, high-volume mass API patterns, and system integration is required. Additionally, proficiency in database architecture, data structuring for scalability, and operational support is vital. Hands-on experience with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, version control systems like GitHub, and familiarity with SDLC methodologies are also necessary. The ability to incorporate AI-enabled workflows and automation into enterprise solutions practically, coupled with excellent communication skills, will set candidates apart. Domain expertise within the HR business domain is highly preferred, enabling a deeper understanding of portfolio solutions related to workforce management systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance enterprise application components supporting solution delivery, including initial deployment phases and subsequent iterations.
• Engineer solutions with an AI-first mindset, integrating AI-enabled workflows and automation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and supportability.
• Implement and optimize integration patterns and mass API workflows to facilitate system connectivity and orchestration of end-to-end processes.
• Lead development of data architecture, database design, and data structuring approaches that support scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and IT delivery teams within a cross-functional, FDE model to translate requirements into production-ready solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical support and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Partner with other teams to ensure solutions are aligned with enterprise platforms, including emerging AI-enabled capabilities and standards.
• Apply enterprise standards and controls related to security, access, change management, testing, and compliance, including controls for ITGC/SOX systems where applicable.
