About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Front-End Developer to join our dynamic team remotely. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining modern web applications that support critical federal projects, specifically for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Your expertise in React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and API integration will be essential in creating intuitive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects that contribute to environmental monitoring and scientific research, supporting NOAA's mission to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans, and coasts.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with at least six years of professional experience in front-end development. Prior experience working on federal projects or with federal agencies is mandatory. Strong proficiency in React.js, React Router, and state management libraries such as Redux or Context API is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of TypeScript, API integration (especially RESTful and OpenAPI standards), and responsive design principles. Familiarity with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and Slack app development is preferred. Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces using React, React Router, and Tailwind CSS.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 to make web applications usable by all users.
• Implement and manage application state efficiently using Context API, Redux, or similar libraries.
• Integrate front-end components with RESTful APIs, including those documented via OpenAPI specifications, ensuring seamless data flow.
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable TypeScript code adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers and backend developers to deliver cohesive and high-quality user experiences.
• Optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives to facilitate continuous improvement.
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the enhancement of development practices and standards.
• Support the customization and integration of Slack, including administrative functions, Slack Web API, and resolving related issues.
