About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Front-End Developer to join our team remotely. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing modern, user-centric web applications tailored for federal projects, specifically supporting NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in front-end development, with a deep understanding of React, TypeScript, and API integration. You will collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and product managers in an Agile environment to deliver responsive, accessible, and high-performance web solutions. Your expertise will directly influence the user experience and functionality of our applications, supporting NOAA's mission to provide reliable environmental data and services.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with at least 6 years of professional front-end development experience. Proven experience working on federal projects or with federal agencies is mandatory. Strong proficiency in React.js, React Router, Tailwind CSS, and TypeScript is essential. Familiarity with RESTful API integration, OpenAPI standards, and version control systems such as Git is required. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with testing frameworks like Jest, CI/CD pipelines, and Slack app development. Candidates should demonstrate excellent soft skills, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability, to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive, accessible user interfaces utilizing React, React Router, and Tailwind CSS, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 standards.
• Implement and manage application state using Context API, Redux, or similar libraries to ensure seamless user experiences.
• Integrate and consume RESTful APIs, including those defined by OpenAPI specifications, ensuring efficient data flow and functionality.
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable TypeScript code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate effectively with UX/UI designers and backend developers to deliver cohesive and intuitive interfaces.
• Optimize application performance, including cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness across devices.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives to ensure timely delivery of features.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and uphold high-quality coding standards.
• Support the customization and administration of Slack integrations, including Web API functionalities and issue resolution, to enhance team collaboration tools.
