The Role: Specialist, Product & Technology Communications
As a Specialist, Product & Technology Communications, you will be a key contributor in promoting and protecting Netflix’s reputation for member-focused innovation. You will drive strategic storytelling across various product areas, including personalized curation, merchandising, new content experiences like Live, and core product launches on TV and Web.
You will collaborate closely with product and technology teams, entertainment communications, marketing, and consumer insights to craft stories that link product innovation to cultural conversations and member value. This position is based in our Los Angeles or Los Gatos offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate complex product concepts into clear, compelling stories that reinforce Netflix as a premier entertainment destination.
- Act as an expert dot-connector across product innovation, culture, audience insights, and company-wide storytelling, proactively identifying narratives for the product and technology communications strategy.
- Develop thoughtful and strategic proactive and reactive communications plans for your product areas, covering ongoing launches, tests, and campaigns.
- Manage key business relationships within product and technology.
- Partner with pan-regional comms teams as the product and tech subject matter expert, providing timely context and strategic collaboration for regional storytelling.
- Manage direct relationships with relevant media, identifying new reporters and engagement approaches.
- Drive proactive storytelling for new content-driven formats (e.g., Live, Podcasts, emerging experiences), collaborating with entertainment comms, publicity, marketing, and product teams.
- Own the development and operational management of messaging documents, launch calendars, and cross-functional alignment for consistent narrative execution.
- Work with cross-functional partners to align messaging and support major milestones, ensuring operational excellence in planning and communication.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of relevant communications experience in tech, innovation, entertainment, or related fields.
- Deep fluency in internet culture and emerging new media platforms; a strong digital native.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of simplifying complex innovations into resonant stories.
- Proven ability to translate intricate product capabilities into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated operational excellence in managing launches, calendars, stakeholder coordination, and alignment.
- High judgment and ability to make principled decisions amidst ambiguity.
- A strong point of view and ability to effectively socialize and influence cross-functional teams.
- A collaborative, team-player mindset, comfortable working independently and proactively.
- Strong bias for action, curiosity, and an instinct for connecting cultural, product, and business priorities.
