About the Role
The Software Engineer - Technical Catalog will lead the architecture and evolution of Netflix's universal metadata platform. You will drive initiatives in entity modeling, relationship management, and operational excellence while partnering with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve a relationship-centric technical catalog.
- Define technical strategy and roadmap for data discovery and governance.
- Align Data Platform with other organizations to enhance metadata strategy.
- Build validation engines and automated quality checks.
- Mentor senior engineers and drive cross-functional decision-making.
- Champion operational excellence and improved incident response.
- Stay ahead in metadata, graph technologies, and compliance trends.
Qualifications
- 12+ years building complex, distributed systems.
- Expertise in Java, C++, Golang, or Python.
- Experience in entity modeling, relationship management, and federated architectures.
- Strong background in customer-facing platform development.
- Proven technical leadership and mentoring ability.
Nice To Have
- Experience with AI/ML for metadata enrichment and anomaly detection.
- Familiarity with catalog systems like DataHub or Amundsen.
Compensation & Benefits
The range for this role is $499,000 to $900,000 annually, determined by market indicators and candidate experience. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including health plans, 401(k) with match, stock options, family benefits, and flexible time off.
