Job Description

About Netflix and the Opportunity

At Netflix, the mission is to entertain the world, constantly innovating on how entertainment is imagined, created, and delivered. With over 320 million paid members across 190 countries, Netflix is expanding its offerings with an Ad-Supported tier. This new tier provides members with more choice at a lower price point and creates a compelling path for advertisers to reach deeply immersed audiences. Netflix is seeking an experienced Senior Content Designer, Ads Consumer to join this innovative team.

The Role: Senior Content Designer, Ads Consumer

As a Senior Content Designer, Ads Consumer at Netflix, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the consumer-facing ad experiences. This involves innovating on new ad formats tailored to diverse content and experiences, evolving existing ad canvases, and implementing trusted ad privacy and policy experiences for members. You will collaborate closely with other designers across member experience teams to ensure ads are clear, engaging, and enhance the overall Netflix experience.

This is a remote-friendly role, offering flexibility for a work-from-home schedule. Ideal candidates are located in California or the Pacific time zone, as monthly in-person travel to Los Angeles, CA, and Los Gatos, CA, will be required for stakeholder collaboration. Exceptions in location can be made for the right candidate.

About the Team

The Ads Consumer Experience Design team focuses on designing all consumer-facing ad experiences across the Netflix product. This team enables advertisers and sponsors to effectively reach members while upholding the highest bar for the Netflix user experience. They strategically execute to ensure the success of the Netflix ads business and design foundational features that differentiate the ad-supported plan, providing users with control, transparency, and trust over their advertising experience.

Known for designing creatively, collaboratively, and quickly in complex environments, the team expertly balances the needs of members and advertisers through rigorous testing, empathy, and expertise. You will be a lead designer, crafting these experiences and shaping the future of advertising across our product, joining one of the most talented and trailblazing advertising design teams globally.

Key Responsibilities and What You'll Bring

As an ads consumer content designer, you will help set and elevate the Content Design vision and strategy, implement crystal-clear UX, define terms, codify styles and patterns, and craft UI copy for a global audience. A strong fit for this role will demonstrate:

  • Treating Content Design as a UX discipline, thinking in flows, states, and interactions—not just words.
  • Systems thinking to build and maintain information architecture, language frameworks, and content patterns that scale.
  • Ability to craft cohesive narratives across product touchpoints for clear, trustworthy, and on‑brand experiences.
  • Operating as a product thinker, prioritizing high‑impact work and making explicit tradeoffs with Product, Design, and Engineering partners.
  • Driving cross‑functional alignment, resolving competing perspectives into simple, intuitive member experiences.
  • Productive collaboration with visual and technical thinkers, presenting clear rationale and inviting candid, actionable feedback.
  • Deep empathy for advertisers and members, leveraging data and insight to uncover better, more immersive ad experiences.
  • Connecting dots across teams and workstreams, creating the structure needed to move complex or ambiguous efforts forward.
  • Being a generous, accountable, and humble teammate who amplifies and builds upon others’ work.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in UX writing, content design/content strategy, technical writing, taxonomy, or IA.
  • A portfolio showcasing end‑to‑end product thinking from problem framing through UX/content strategy, IA, and final UI copy for consumer experiences.
  • Mastery of AP style and the judgment to adapt or break rules when it improves clarity or UX.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize business requirements, user research, and data into clear, outcome‑driven UI content.
  • Proven strength in mapping and improving user journeys and content flows across multiple surfaces.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and traverse altitudes from strategic visioning to tactical execution.
  • Highly collaborative, organized, and self-directed, able to effectively prioritize and respond to shifting team needs.

Even Better

  • Direct experience working with advertisers, agencies, or on consumer advertising experiences.
  • Experience at a startup or in a startup-like environment, demonstrating high agency, bias to action, and quick decision-making.
  • Deep understanding of user experience fundamentals, especially applied to multiple device modalities like CTV, mobile, and web.

Compensation & Benefits

This full-time, salaried position reports to the Ads Consumer Experience Design Manager. Netflix’s compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary, with flexibility to choose between salary and stock options. The compensation range for this role is $270,000.00 - $380,000.00, varying by location.
