About the Messaging Data Science & Engineering Team

The Messaging Data Science and Engineering team drives Data Science, Analytics, and Data Engineering strategies for our off-service communications to existing members. This space operates as a 'mini Netflix,' highly cross-functional, intersecting with content, product, and algorithms. A strong messaging strategy is crucial for meeting member needs and supporting new business lines like Live and Games.

The Opportunity

We seek an exceptional technical leader to manage a diverse team and shape our science and analytics approach to Messaging. The ideal candidate will be passionate about diving into complex systems to define technical strategy. Strong cross-functional collaboration is essential, as this role sits at the intersection of a complex stakeholder landscape. Success means shaping our broader messaging strategy to drive significant impact across multiple Netflix business needs.

In This Role, You Will

• Lead a team comprising Data Scientists, Analytics Engineers, and Data Engineers.
• Drive the vision and roadmap, balancing stakeholder needs to maximize business impact.
• Be a strategic thought partner, actively shaping the broader Messaging domain's strategy.
• Foster a culture of innovation through collaboration across Data Science and Engineering.
• Embody Netflix values in daily work and all interactions.

You Have

• Demonstrated experience leading Data Science or related teams, especially in complex stakeholder environments or with significant strategic flexibility.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, effectively collaborating with diverse technical and non-technical partners.
• A passion for driving and influencing product strategies in a fast-paced, cross-functional setting.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity, a strong ownership mindset, thriving on minimal oversight, and a rapid absorption of business context.
• Masters or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary, without bonuses. You choose annually how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. We determine top-of-market compensation based on market indicators, job family, background, skills, and experience. The range for this role is $480,000.00 - $750,000.00, varying by location.
