The Attack Emulation Team, part of Detection and Response, strategically combines offensive security, defensive security, and threat intelligence to bolster Netflix's overall security posture. This is achieved through proactive and reactive attack simulations, supporting tabletop exercises, control validation testing, attacker-focused hackdays, purple teaming, workforce education programs, and providing critical threat intelligence to the business. We are a team of builders and breakers, measuring our success by increased control confidence, resilience, security awareness, and robust response readiness.

The Role of Engineering Manager, Attack Emulation Team

We are seeking an experienced security leader to directly manage offensive security operations, foster strong cross-functional relationships, drive findings remediation, and promote the adoption of new security controls. This role involves leading and developing a diverse team of security engineers with broad backgrounds across multiple security domains. You must possess a builder's mindset, ready to contribute to broader preventative control initiatives and inform the larger Detection and Response strategy.

Desired Background & Qualifications

• Direct experience managing a hybrid team of in-person and remote engineers.
• A proven track record of mentoring and developing high-performing security engineering teams.
• An empathetic leader who fosters a culture of psychological safety and inclusion, enabling all team members to excel.
• Preference for risk-driven, scalable security approaches over policy-based mandates.
• Deep understanding of the latest adversary techniques, modern threat landscapes, and active experience running red team operations or adversary emulation scenarios.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable security solutions, tools, or platforms for threat detection, intelligence gathering, or attack simulation.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to significantly improve organizational security posture.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Ability to drive success with minimal process and a strong emphasis on individual responsibility.

Compensation & Benefits at Netflix

Our compensation structure primarily consists of an annual salary, with no bonuses. You have the flexibility each year to choose your desired allocation between salary and stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we utilize market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience. The salary range for this role is $510,000.00 - $752,000.00, which may vary based on location.
