The Opportunity
The IP Enforcement Team is seeking an Analyst to join us on the front line protecting our brand, stories, products, and experiences from infringement and counterfeiting. With experience at a filmed entertainment studio, consumer goods company, or IP enforcement vendor, this Analyst will thrive on finding creative ways to protect our IP and help drive consumers to authentic, authorized consumer products and events. We are looking for someone who is business-oriented, able to think outside the box, and looking to challenge long-standing assumptions about how to manage IP. They will be highly organized, self-motivated, quick-thinking, flexible, technology-oriented, and able to juggle multiple responsibilities with an unwavering attention to detail. This is a fast-paced role that requires strong business acumen, curiosity, and significant initiative.
In this role, you will work closely with the broader IP legal team and cross-functional stakeholders, including Consumer Products and Experiences, Content Protection, Brand Partnerships, and Games, to innovate and execute on enforcement strategies to most effectively protect Netflix’s IP on a global scale.
This role reports to the Director of Intellectual Property and is located in Los Angeles.
Job Responsibilities
- Proactively analyze global online marketplaces, social media, and standalone websites for infringing products and events, collaborating closely with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and investigate large-scale infringement trends and high-value targets for deeper legal action.
- Field and file trademark and DMCA copyright violations using third-party tools and platform-specific programs.
- Verify the authenticity of suspected counterfeit products, coordinating with internal stakeholders as needed.
- Educate customs officials and law enforcement agencies on Netflix’s product lines to facilitate seizures of counterfeit goods.
- Develop and manage data-driven systems to track enforcement metrics and report on global trends.
- Maintain and optimize our evidence archives and legal databases, including WebTMS.
Qualifications
- 6-10 years of experience in online marketplace enforcement, preferably in the entertainment studio space.
- Solid understanding of IP law, including trademark, copyright, and unfair competition.
- Experience identifying and making judgment calls about how to enforce IP rights against a range of infringing and counterfeit products and events.
- Hands-on experience using brand protection tools and IP management tools, such as Meta IPR platform and Amazon Brand Registry.
- Experience collaborating with a broad set of cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.
- Tech-savviness, including proficiency with systems and tools to manage a high volume of matters (e.g., database, reporting, information management systems).
- High level of organization, detail orientation, and ability to time-manage across multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work across borders with multicultural EQ.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly assess and respond to urgent matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Trademark clearance and prosecution experience are a plus.
