Overview
Neptune Medical is an innovative, venture capital funded medical device startup headquartered in Burlingame, CA. The Triton Robotics team is building a fully flexible medical robot to redefine flexible endoscopy.
Position Summary
The Clinical Development Engineer II works closely with product development teams and clinicians to evaluate product designs from early feasibility to clinical trials and commercialization. The role focuses on understanding user needs, establishing clinical requirements, assessing risks, and guiding product development with clinical insights.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Development and Clinicians to define user needs.
- Drive product discovery as the internal champion for clinical need.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on GI anatomy, disease states, and clinical procedures.
- Lead the development of bench models for evaluating prototypes.
- Stay current with GI scientific publications and assess clinical risks.
- Develop test methods, models, and metrics for product performance.
- Manage pre-clinical testing facilities and conduct formal testing protocols.
- Support customer training, product launch activities, and document creation.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Biomedical Engineering or similar field.
- 2+ years in the medical device industry.
- Experience collaborating with physicians and conducting pre-clinical testing.
- Fluency in medical terminology and sound knowledge of anatomy.
- Strong communication skills and ability to draw technical conclusions.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in Biomedical Engineering or similar.
- Experience in design validation strategy and clinical development for medical robotics.
- Knowledge of usability, human factors, and risk assessments in regulated environments.
Additional Information
Neptune Medical is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART Station. The starting base salary ranges between $110,000 and $160,000, based on experience, and may include equity, benefits, and 401(K) matching.
