About the role
Healthcare Data Analytics Specialist
Neolytix is seeking a skilled Healthcare Data Analytics Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial for driving insights and supporting decision-making by analyzing healthcare payer data, creating data pipelines, and managing complex analytics projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Product, IT, and external partners, to ensure robust data integration, reporting, and advanced analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, expertise in the payer domain, and the ability to effectively manage third-party data sources.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics and Reporting
- Data Analysis: Analyze CPT-level data to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to healthcare services and payer rates.
- Model Building: Build and maintain analytical models for cost, quality, and utilization metrics using tools like Python, R, or SQL-based BI tools.
- Reporting: Develop comprehensive reports to communicate findings to various stakeholders across the organization.
3rd-Party Data Management
- Data Ingestion: Ingest and preprocess data from multiple third-party sources, transforming it into unified structures for analytics and reporting.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with transparency requirements and facilitate downstream analytics.
- Automation: Design automated workflows for data updates and validation, working closely with external vendors and technical teams.
- Quality Assurance: Establish best practices for data quality checks (e.g., encounter completeness, claim-level validations) and troubleshooting.
Data Integration and ETL Pipelines
- Pipeline Development: Develop, maintain, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and loading of internal and external data sources.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with Operations to design scalable, secure, and high-performing data workflows.
- Best Practices: Implement best practices in data governance, version control, data security, and documentation.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Data Quality: Ensure data quality by implementing validation checks, audits, and anomaly detection frameworks.

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field (master's degree a plus).
- 1-2+ years of experience in healthcare analytics, payer operations, or related fields.
Technical Skills
- Data Integration & ETL: Proficiency in building data pipelines using tools like SQL, Python, R, or ETL platforms (e.g., Talend, Airflow, or Data Factory).
- Databases & Cloud: Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- BI & Visualization: Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) for dashboard creation and data storytelling.
- Healthcare Data: Hands-on experience with healthcare transparency data sets (MRF, All Claims), claims data ingestion, and provider/facility-level data from third-party sources like Definitive Healthcare.
Healthcare Domain Expertise
- Strong understanding of claims data structures (UB-04, CMS-1500), coding systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS), and payer processes.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, transparency rules) and their impact on data.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
- Proven ability to synthesize large datasets, pinpoint issues, and recommend data-driven solutions.
