Job Description

About NeedTech Labs

We’re building a software-only scheduling engine that makes compute performance predictable and energy-efficient under cache contention. The core idea: combine cache-access telemetry with latency-sensitivity profiling to classify workloads and co-dispatch compatible jobs—reducing cache interference while optimizing throughput, SLA compliance, and energy proportionality. Targets include Kubernetes/cloud-native, HPC, and edge environments.

The Role: CTO & Founder Infrastructure Startup

We’re looking for a Founding CTO & Systems Co-Founder to own strong technical vision and deliver an MVP within ~12 months. This is a hands-on, deep systems role: architecture, prototyping, measurement, optimization, and early customer-facing technical credibility.

What You’ll Do

  • Define the end-to-end technical roadmap from architecture → MVP → early pilots
  • Build a vendor-agnostic solution: e.g., scheduler plugin, runtime component, and/or Linux kernel module
  • Design telemetry pipelines using performance counters and energy metrics (low overhead, high fidelity)
  • Develop workload classification and multi-objective optimization (latency, throughput, energy, SLA)
  • Validate on representative workloads (cloud multi-tenant pods, HPC kernels, edge inference/control)
  • Lead early IP/patent strategy (claims framing, invention capture, technical defensibility)
  • Recruit and lead early engineering talent as the company grows

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years in systems software with deep Linux internals (kernel, perf, sched, cgroups, eBPF or adjacent)
  • Demonstrated work in performance telemetry, profiling, and optimization (not just dashboards)
  • Solid grounding in optimization/algorithms (heuristics, search, multi-objective optimization)
  • Proven “zero-to-one” capability: shipping, iterating, and making hard technical calls under uncertainty
  • Clear communicator who can translate deep tech into credible product direction
  • US or Canada-based individual

Ideally

  • HPC background (MPI workloads, job schedulers, performance engineering)
  • Edge systems experience (real-time constraints, energy-aware scheduling)
  • Prior patent contributions or published systems work
  • Experience working with hyperscaler/infra buyers or platform teams

What You Get

Founding equity, full partnership potential, and high-upside compensation. Base salary activates post-funding or upon hitting revenue inflection points.
