Job Overview

NBC News is seeking a seasoned and driven Producer, Investigative Unit to support our Senior Legal Correspondent in reporting, storytelling, and live programming. The role focuses on delivering hard news and feature producing for legal and high-profile judicial topics including the Supreme Court, criminal cases, and constitutional challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Legal Correspondent, editors, and show teams.
  • Pitch, produce, write, and fact-check stories for linear and streaming platforms.
  • Conduct deep research, source interviews, and secure guest bookings.
  • Oversee live shots, remote anchor setups, and breaking news coverage.
  • Manage field operations and coordinate schedules and legal calendars.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in network news, cable, or talk show production.
  • Strong writing, research, and editorial judgment skills with legal reporting expertise.
  • Experience in shooting and editing using DSLR, Avid, or Adobe Premiere.
  • Proficiency in using PACER, LexisNexis, Westlaw and handling FOIA requests.

Additional Information

This hybrid position requires on-office presence a minimum of three days per week and involves working nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
