Job Description

About National Research Group

National Research Group (NRG) is a leading global insights and strategy firm operating at the intersection of content, culture, and technology. We provide fresh insights to spark new ideas, serving as a trusted partner to clients by bringing imagination, depth, and clarity to their biggest challenges across entertainment, technology, lifestyle, sports, and gaming, enabling them to create with confidence.

NRG operates under core values such as doing what you love with conviction, fostering discovery and impact, celebrating difference, cultivating belonging, promoting big and collectively inspired thinking, and embracing the human journey.

The Opportunity for a Market Research Analyst

NRG is continually seeking sharp, curious, and creative minds for future opportunities across all client services teams, particularly for the Market Research Analyst role. If you are passionate about qualitative and quantitative research and collaborating with a team that partners with top global brands to shape content, products, and strategies, NRG encourages your application.

This overview details a typical Market Research Analyst role, with specifics potentially shifting based on hiring needs. General applications are regularly reviewed, with priority given to active openings, and potential fits will be contacted.

Your Impact as a Market Research Analyst

  • Support all phases of quantitative and qualitative research projects, including research design, questionnaire and discussion guide development, data analysis, and storytelling.
  • Projects may include concept evaluation, brand studies, content optimization tests, messaging/positioning evaluation, creative materials tests, market sizing, and segmentation.
  • Drive quality control processes throughout the research lifecycle, from checking survey programming logic and questionnaire proofing to ensuring accuracy in reports and presentations.
  • Partner with internal and external operations teams (programming, fieldwork, facilities, moderators, data processing) to advance projects on stringent timelines.
  • Assist in translating data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations through visual, creative, and story-driven reports.

Who We're Looking For

  • Prior Experience: Internship or work experience in market research or consumer insights is preferred. Recent graduates without direct experience are welcome to highlight academic qualitative or quantitative research projects (e.g., primary survey research, experimental psychology studies, social media analysis, ethnographic research).
  • Curiosity and Critical Thinking: A genuine interest in understanding "why" consumers behave as they do, constantly seeking deeper information and enjoying the learning process.
  • Clear and Proactive Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable asking questions and sharing viewpoints clearly and succinctly.
  • Data Driven: Comfortable working with both structured (quantitative) and unstructured (qualitative) data to identify trends and insights, preferably with experience visualizing data in tools like Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, and Slides.
  • Data Analysis Techniques and Software: Familiarity with statistical significance testing, correlation analysis, multivariate analysis (e.g., cluster/segmentation), conjoint, and discrete choice analysis is a plus. Experience with statistical packages such as SPSS or Q is also beneficial.
  • Problem Solver: Naturally seeks solutions rather than viewing challenges as roadblocks, employing creative and collaborative tactics.
  • Self-starter: Internally-motivated, continuously striving for excellence, proactive, and focused on the next steps.
  • Hawk-eyed Attention to Detail: Noticing subtle errors in font, capitalization, and ensuring high levels of quality control and reporting accuracy.
  • Expert Multitasker: Effectively manages time and multiple competing priorities to consistently meet deadlines, emphasizing strong organizational skills.
  • Great Team Member: Works collaboratively and harmoniously, forming connections remotely and welcoming feedback for continuous learning and growth, always willing to contribute to tasks.
  • Your Degree(s): B.A./B.S. degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Business, Marketing, Market Research, Statistics, Economics, or a related field. Additional degrees are welcome.
  • Passion: A strong interest in or desire to learn about technology, entertainment, gaming, sports, and/or lifestyle sectors, staying updated on industry trends.

Position Type and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position. NRG embraces a modern work environment with flexible and remote options, complemented by optional office usage in Culver City or New York. Benefits include unlimited PTO, volunteer days, generous recharge days, and a full office closure during Christmas and New Year’s. The company also offers Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, a 401K with company match, generous paid Parental Leave, regular performance evaluations with opportunities for promotions and merit increases, and an educational and training reimbursement plan. Employee perks programs, mental health resources, an employee recognition program (NRGratitude), regular team/company events, pet-friendly headquarters, and pet insurance options are also provided.

Our Commitment

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to NRG's practices, ensuring a thriving workplace for individuals from all identities and backgrounds. They recruit and retain diverse talent through learning programs, internal mobility, affinity groups, and leadership development, recognizing that differences strengthen the workforce and enhance innovation.
