About the Senior Engineering Manager Role

The Senior Engineering Manager leads critical groups with significant responsibilities, often comprising senior staff or managing technically complex and strategically vital architectural or product components. This role requires building strong relationships across the organization to ensure alignment and support for goals.

You will architect and design digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems. Applying systematic scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and experience to software design, implementation, testing, and documentation, you will own and manage your application in production, ultimately being accountable for digital product success through KPI achievement.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with product teams to enhance service reliability and user experience.
• Ensure comprehensive incident response coverage via effective on-call management.
• Respond to incidents, conduct thorough post-mortems, and implement preventative measures.
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce toil and elevate delivery quality.
• Mentor engineers on advanced technology and effective Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
• Create strategic plans to foster the growth of Site Reliability practices.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to a global engineering team.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate a disciplined approach to maintaining and enforcing engineering best practices, along with proven experience in proactively improving availability while reducing Mean Time To Resolution (MTTR).

You should possess significant experience providing front-line support for critical issues and expertise in supporting enterprise platforms like Apigee, Kafka, and/or TIBCO. Proficiency in using observability tools such as DataDog for dashboard creation and issue source identification is also essential.

A strong technical background in distributed computing, hybrid cloud environments, and infrastructure support is required. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement, coupled with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels. You must be detail-oriented, self-organized, and capable of simultaneously tracking multiple issues of varying complexity.
