Your Role

Analytical and Rigorous Assessments: Provide detailed analytical and rigorous assessments to produce sound credit decisions for complex and sophisticated Alt A mortgage applications.

Sales Orientation: Establish profitable, low-risk parameters for loans, pricing, terms, and conditions of mortgages, while valuing the success of internal and external clients.

Risk Appetite: Maintain a high level of vigilance and excel in adhering to market risk appetite, while complying with National Bank policies.

Compliance: Effectively analyze and evaluate supporting documentation provided by clients and brokers, while respecting industry compliance obligations, including personal information protection, anti-money laundering and terrorist financing, internal fraud policies, and KYC requirements.

Innovative Solutions: Exceed expectations and demonstrate creativity to design flexible and unique solutions for clients, while respecting NBC policies and guidelines.

Mentorship: Provide mentorship to support mortgage documentation agents.

Composure: Maintain daily operations in a dynamic, sales and customer service-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Education: Post-secondary education in commerce, finance, or business administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge: Minimum of five years of experience in Alt A underwriting or lending. Alt A underwriting experience is essential.
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of insurer guidelines (CMHC and Sagen).
  • Skills: Excellent computer skills and proficiency in applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Relationship Builder: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Demonstrated communication via email and phone. Analysis and adjudication of Alt A credit applications submitted by brokers.
  • Priorities: Constant ability to thrive in a sophisticated and diverse organizational environment, managing multiple tasks calmly and with a sense of humor, even under pressure.
