About the Role

The Software Tester & Technical Writer plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and usability of National Archives’ digital applications. Working within the Applications Integration Section of the Technology branch, you will design and execute test plans, identify defects, and produce clear technical documentation to support the agency’s digital transformation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Designing and executing various test plans (regression, user acceptance, production verification).
  • Identifying, documenting, and tracking defects using tools like DevOps and ServiceNow.
  • Collaborating with developers and stakeholders to clarify business requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation such as system design, functional specifications, SOPs, and guides.
  • Contributing to automated testing frameworks and scripts where appropriate.
  • Upholding APS and National Archives values along with contemporary people management practices.

Desirable Skills and Capabilities

  • 3-5 years’ experience in testing, QA or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, testing methodologies, and defect management.
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Postman, or Playwright.
  • Proficiency in writing clear and structured technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools like CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Azure DevOps.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
